March-May Bonus Readings
Community of Christ will be holding its 2025 World Conference at the end of May and beginning of June. In the weeks leading up to the conference, the resolutions that will be discussed and debated there will be available here on the Someday School website. Taking some time to read over and annotate these resolutions will let you stay aware of what’s being discussed as a whole church—and share your thoughts on what direction the church should go in.
This Week’s Lectionary Scripture
Third Sunday of Easter1
Today is the third Sunday of the Easter season. The Easter season continues for fifty days and concludes with the Day of Pentecost.
Revelation 5:11-14
Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders; they numbered myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, singing with full voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea and all that is in them, singing,
“To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might
forever and ever!”And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the elders fell down and worshiped.
- How might this image of heaven bring comfort to the Christians with whom John shared his vision? How might it bring comfort to us today?
- What feelings arise in you when you consider the image of Jesus as a slaughtered lamb? How does the image of the slaughtered lamb turn upside-down our expectation of what the Messiah is to be?
- How might we recognize Community of Christ’s Enduring Principle of Unity in Diversity in today’s scripture in which “every creature on heaven and earth and under the earth and in the sea” are singing praises together?
This Week’s Text from Sharing in Community of Christ
We Share Whole-life Stewardship 2
When our lives are touched deeply by God, we want to be more Christ-like in our living. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we acknowledge God’s grace and love in our lives.
Accepting God’s gifts means offering our whole life to Christ as a faithful disciple.
You are invited to a journey of whole-life stewardship in response to God’s amazing generosity in your life as we seek to build communities of joy, hope, love, and peace.
Faithful disciples respond to an increasing awareness of the abundant generosity of God by sharing according to the desires of their hearts…Give generously according to your true capacity.
—Doctrine and Covenants 163:9
Free the full capacity of Christ’s mission through generosity that imitates God’s generosity.
—Doctrine and Covenants 165:2a
- How do you imitate God’s generosity, individually and as a community?
